Default MOStlyCE Released for Mambo 4.5.4

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we released the new default editor, MOStlyCE, for Mambo today. It will be the default in future versions starting with 4.6. We decided to backport to 4.5.4 as well. You can find it here on "The Source". I think you'll find it a big improvement over the plain TinyMCE editor included with Mambo.

Note: The version released for 4.5.4 should also work well with 4.5.3h. Enjoy and Mambo On

Default Error no editor MOSTICE

Hi I have just downloaded and installed the new editor all went ok during the install and everything appears to be installed, however the editor doesn't show any actual editor buttons and the text shows as html?

Please advise or should I unistall and try again?

All the latest releases in case you query.

Might even get the Title right! Sorry! MOStlyCE

Default similar behaviour.. error message included

I have the same problem. All was well in the install, switch global config to use MOStlyCE and no buttons appear. Raw HTML show up in the editor window. Looks like no editor defined. Running Mambo 4.5.4, IE as browser. The following two error messages come up as well.

Line: 43
Char: 2
Error: 'realTinyMCE' is undefined
Code: 0
http://www.kedivingclub.org/index.ph...d=1&Returnid=1

and

Line: 123
Char: 1
Error: Expected identifier, string or number
Code: 0
http://www.kwdivingclub.org/index.ph...d=1&Returnid=1

more info...
error messages only start to happen when logged into site. Guests have no errors. Errors occur on pages with no 'editable' elements.

Perhaps a mistype in a global declaration of some sort??

Hi all,

I have a problem too, actually I had the same problem with TinyMCE : in the "Style" combo there aren't any styles that I have defined, and I can't get it to work.My site relies heavily on styles and I have to edit manually the HTML. I have no problem with that, but when I deliver the project to my clients they won't even know where to begin... Any suggestions?

(PS: I have v4.5.3h)

Yes for this one I would suggest you remove all the current files and reinstall. I have seen this behavior before and it appeared when not all the files were installed properly and/or had been corrupted.

This problem seems to have found its way back in back in. It was an old bug with IE I thought I fixed a while ago. I'll work on it tonight and try to get out an updated version. It's odd we didn't see this come up in internal tested. I know we did some testing with IE. OK well I should be able to fix tonight and get out a new very quickly.

Hello Ciumegu, do you have the MOStlyCE Admin component installed? If so on the general tab of the Admin there are two options that are important. The first is " Override Template CSS", you'll have to set this to "Yes". Next is the "Custom CSS File", you'll have to place your file inside the templates directory and make sure you match up the names here.

Yeah, already tried that while I waited for a reply and still it doesn't seem to want to work?

Any other ideas or where I should start looking?

Regards

It worked, thanks!

And for those in need if styles as much as I...the "Styles" combo displays only classes, not ID-s (as I had lots of them and did'n know why they aren't displayed )

Confirmed. My site and MOStlyCE works fine with FF.. just cacks with IE. hmmm. what's the message here?

Looks like it is down in the tiny_mce_gzip.php code.

Looking forward to the update.

Just installed firefox and tested the new editor and hey-presto! it works fine, well all the buttons show and the text is in readable format not html!

Houston you have a problem then me thinks?

Will there be a fix?

Yes.. that is what I expected. This problem only raises it head in IE. I'm a Linux guy and do all my work with FF, but we do aim to support the major browsers so I'll have another look at IE today and get a fix ready.

I messed around with this for a while and did some searching on the TinyMCE forums. Seems many people are having the same issue with IE6. The error comes from the TinyMCE compressor. The solution for IE6 users is to just open the MOStlyCE Admin Component and disable "Editor Compression".

We are running the latest version of the TinyMCE compressor (v1.0.8 ). When an updated version is released we'll update MOStlyCE's version as well and hopefully this issue is corrected. I recall we did have this working with earlier versions of the compressor, but past versions have had security holes and thus I do not recommend downgrading.

I just tried this and it seems to work or at least the editor and text are displaying now, i will add some content and see if it uploads ok etc.

What is the compression for then? Speed up loading?

OK let me know. Things should work just fine without it. The compressor is a really nice feature that speeds up the editor quite considerably, but is not a requirement. In a nutshell it aims to reduce traffic (i.e.) the number of requests the editor needs to send back and forth. TinyMCE claims up to as much as a 75% reduction.

sigh.. I guess I am special. Turning off compression does indeed make it better. Buttons show up with the exception of the bold, italic and underline buttons which do not have their icons. Another anomaly is that when HTML view is brought up, the update and cancel buttons are 'malformed'. All of these buttons work i.e. I can bold text etc... The error message that referred to realTinyMCE is now gone but the second message about expecting identifier string or number has morphed into

Line: 41
Char: 1
Error: Expected identifier, string or number
Code: 0
http://www.kwdivingclub.org/

I also tried bumping up to IE 7 Beta 2 with the same result. FF as usual is just plain ok. Fascinating...
