vbridge RC 1 released
Download here Bugtracker here Demo Requirements ---------------------------------------- - Mambo 4.5.2.3 installed and working - vBulletin 3.0.7 / 3.0.8 / RC 1 / RC2 installed and working - Mambo and vBulletin MySQL data must be in the same database i.e. For this version, it is required that Mambo and vBulletin uses one database. Please make sure to install Mambo and vBulletin on to one database. It is adviced to use table prefixes during the installation of both systems (e.g. "mos_" for Mambo and "vb3_" for vBulletin). Existing Databases has to be merged. A multi-database version of the bridge will be released sometime in the future. - vBulletin must be under the mambo root i.e. If mambo is in: /home/httpd/vhosts/sitename.com/httpdocs/ vBullettin should be in: /home/httpd/vhosts/sitename.com/httpdocs/forum Quote:

Which vBulletin Version do you use? Patching the vBulletin files only work with 3.0.7 other versions are coming. If you have a different tell me and i give you a version for them.
For the theme index i have tested with several themes without a prob, but thanks for the hint i will check again. Yes documentation must be better before final, that`s right, but feedback can make it better ![]() |

I've done the same thing with my test site. When I try to apply the code patch it tells me the file or path isn't writable. I have 4.5.2.3 and 3.0.7.
Everything else in the install went flawlessly. I have to say this is an excellent implementation so far. |

According to the posts in the Mambull thread, the admin account of your VBullitin install will be inserted into the Mambo User table with the login for Mambo Admin being the admin login from VB. Same user name and pass.

Predator,
Here is my list: 1. If i login from VB, it does not reflect on mambo side. But if i login in from mambo it shows up on both the sides. 2. If i logout from VB, it does not log me out from mambo. After that, even if i try to logout from mambo i am not able to do that. It keeps on redirecting me to VB but does not really logout from mambo. 3. There seems to be lot of issues with template. One window keeps on opening inside the previous....... loop. This might be due to point 4 below. 4. OffCouse even i was not able to patch the files login.php and index.php from the current mambo theme. I tried this on a win xp localhost -V |

Ok...
I've setup a test server twice. Both had 4.5.2.3 clean installs. VBulletin 3.0.7 clean installs. I followed the installation instructions at the begining of the thread. Started by installing the component, then went into it's configurations and put all my info in. Clicked through the install links, installed the login module. Ran into the path/file no writeable problem both times on both test installs. Once for the theme index.php file and the VBulletin login.php files. Once I hit this point, I backed out of the admin portal and BAM. Internal Server Error 500. I can't load jack from my test site. I can get into the admin portal of both Mambo and VBulletin, but thats it. No front page of either. I'm on a Linux 2.6 server with Apache 1.3 and MySQL 4ish, can't remember... Thats as far as I was able to get, I've tried to uninstall the component and module in hopes of correcting the problems, but no luck, still ISE 500. Both times the only resolution was to totally reinstall Mambo and VBull to get back into a working condition. To the best of my knowledge I'm following the instructions to the letter. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone tried to apply this to a MSAS? Last edited by GrahamT1 : July 12th, 2005 at 22:22. Reason: Thought... |

I've done a bit of customization to my vbulletin registration form, like adding extra fields. I have 1,600 users so is there anyway that I could keep using my registration form?

To prevent the loop the patching should do this: at the very top of the theme index.php Code:
<!-- Begin Mambo-vBridge from WH-SOLUTION -->
<script type='text/javascript'>
<!--
if (top.frames.length!=0) {
if (window.location.href.replace)
top.location.replace(self.location.href);
else
top.location.href=self.document.href;
}
// -->
</script>
<!-- End Mambo-vBridge -->

I`m thinking about a option to use mambo registration or vb registration, but this will change more in vbulletin and this can only be done if i find a secure way to patch the files by the component, currently this works but as you see in the other postings some have probs. SMF has a packmanager which looks really good so i will have a look into this one. |

jelsoft has a habit of releasing new vb versions every other month. so we are used to manually rehacking and upgrading our files more often than we like. it's the only way we know how. but we stay with vb because it's the most robust forum available (I also have smf (using cowboy's bridge), and phpbb). |

I.E. if you have a hack for something as a XML file like this: Code:
<edit file> $sourcedir/newpost.php </edit file> <search> sprintf($txt['notify_boards'], $_POST['subject'], $scripturl . '?topic=' . $topic . '.new#new') . $txt['notify_boards_once'] . "\n\n" . $txt['notify_boardsUnsubscribe'] . ': ' . $scripturl . '?action=notifyboard;board=' . $board . ".0\n\n" . </search> <replace> sprintf($txt['notify_boards'], $_POST['subject'], $scripturl . 'topic=' . $topic . '.new#new') . $txt['notify_boards_once'] . "\n\n" . $txt['notify_boardsUnsubscribe'] . ': ' . $scripturl . 'action=notifyboard;board=' . $board . ".0\n\n" . </replace> Would be easier if vBulletin also had a Packagemanager like SMF i like this feature. |

i) I am using the mod_vbridge_login_v1.0. My steps: 1. Login into VB from the forum. 2. Login successfull. 3. Click on Home of mambo. This shows i am logged in. 4. Click on logout in the VB module on Home Page of mambo. Takes you to the forum page and talks about deleting cookies. Click on delete cookies. 5. Check on mambo home page, still logged in. 6. Check on forum page, logged out. ii) When i login into forums and try to start a "New Thread" i get the following error: "No Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster" iii) If i login from forum page and then logout from the forum page itself, that does not logout from anywhere. It shows me a blank page with only the header, top menu, and newsflash. If i click on the forums tab, the forum shows up, and I am still very much there in forums. Only way to logout from forums is step (i). -V |

OK i have completly integrated the Packagemanager from SMF
works nice and easy for hacking files.This Patchhandler ( name for vbridge ) can patch files and repatch them using a file with search replace pattern.Download here Version is Beta 1.01 if this works everywhere the way is open to patch more vBulletin files on the fly to be able to manage users not only from mambo admin backend. Thanks for the current feedback, now all must be able to patch the files and looking forward for more feedback. Regards |
