Default *Transmenu V2.0 for Mambo is out!

The big interest in Transmenu have encouraged me to work hard for the release of Transmenu 2.0. This updated version 2.0 is a stable version for both Joomla/Mambo and offers more options for Joomla/Mambo menus.

I. SEE TRANSMENU IN LIVE ACTION!
Live demo:
1. JA Altair
2. Blue Trans
3. Centauri
4. Arcturus Trans

II. MENU FEATURES
1. Vertical and Horizontal type. Each will use independent CSS file (transmenuv.css and transmenuh.css).
2. Options to choose menutype.
3. Unlimited submenus.
4. Main/sub, hover, active menus (both main and sub) will all have independent Css settings.
5. Alpha/Shadow settings for dropdown background (settings in transmenu.js).
6. Menu styles: dropdown/flyup (normally for Horizontal style) or from left/right (normally for Vertical style).
7. X and Y padding for submenu: applicable with page with > 2 levels menus.

III. UPDATES FROM VERSION 1.1
Version 2.0 - 10/23/2005
- Change name from MBT TransMenu to JA TransMenu.
- Support 2 more directions for menu display: "up" and "left" (only "down" and "right" in v1.1).

Works very nicely on IE;
is it compliant/accessible?
Looks good.

This certainly looks interesting! Unfortunately I am limited to only testing in 1.0.4 and IE6.0 like yourself.

Hiya!

Excellent work

I've tested them with the following browsers/platforms:

Mozilla 1.7.7 / Linux i686 2.6.8-24.16-default - OK
Opera 8.0 Final Build 1092 / Linux i686 2.6.8-24.16-default - OK
Netscape 5.0 / SunOS 5.8 - Not very smooth, with slight presentation problems at first, but OK
FireFox 0.8 / SunOS 5.8 - OK

Hiya!

The Netscape 5.0/Sun OS "issue" may also be caused by the rather old version I use, I'm not sure if it's really worth the effort.

Anyway, the presentation problems are as follow:

- The dropdown effect is slow and not very smooth
- The "Other services" menu item in Services is not visible at first, but that changes as soon as you move your mouse pointer over it.
- Some of the menu items also interfere with the "Latest news"
- This problem is gone after sifting through the menus

Ok, first nice menus very smooth.

My testing is as follow:

IE4 - Your site is non existent. I get mywebsearch.

IE5.01 - Works fine, but there's a blue line right on the bottom of the menu. The grey background of the drop downs show a bit more than in IE6.

IE5.5 sp2 - And this one, the grey background comes down a bit faster than the black bg of the child. It's very obvious. Other than that it works fine.

FF and IE6 - Kicking Az!!!

Hope this helps you out.

Looks pretty good on Safari (OS X 10.4.1) - however, if there are submenues (I notice a couple of the menu items in the dropdowns have an ">" after them), those are not showing up. If there's only one level of menu in the dropdown, then it's working fine.

Scott

PS. See it in action on Safari here: http://homepage.mac.com/sinemac/Menus.mov

Thank you all, your comments will be highly considered in the development of the menu.

I agree!

This is configurable, you can set the delay time of submenu to appear, if you set delay time=0 then it will appear instantly.Futhermore, you can config the time for the submenu to hide, default setting you are seeing is "4"

Of course this makes more sense! If a submenu has a another submenu inside, there will be a ">" (picture) mark at the ends.

Menu items are for demo only.

Is this to be an open source menu system?

Hiya!

It seems as if there are some misunderstandings

Netscape 5.0/slow/not smooth:
It is slow and not very smooth in comparison to the other browsers I tested at the same time. Might be the CSS implementation of this Netscape version, don't know.

"Other services" not visible:
When the submenu drops down, then the menu item "Other services" is a gray block. The black background/white text is only visible after a mouseover.

Menu items interfere with Latest News:
The dropdown effect of some menu items scrambles the text in the Latest News module.

Try again later.
The site seems to come and go.
I noticed this when accessing the tutorials. (the excellent tutorials!)

Appears to be a DNS problem because when it happens you cannot even run a traceroute.
Error comes back "unknown host."
