Default SEF - Wrapper Problem

Version 4.5.1b

I've got many wrappers where I have pages from another sql displayed.
These can become long pages, and I had it so that
mambo would expand the height, so there weren't any
scroll bars on the wrapper part.

But, since I started using SEF only one of them still
expands automatically.
That one is launched
from a link on a section page. And only works if I use the
old URL. None of the original ones on my "other/left" menu
will expand, SEF or not.

And also, new ones I create won't expand, unless it's from
a link on a section page.

All of them have been set with exactly the same parameters.

I saw some things in the forum about adding code or adding
something to urls, but i couldn't quite get it. Probably cuz
I've been at it 12 hours solid and
can't see straight.

If anyone has an idea of what to do, it would be muchly
appreciated.

And now for my daily 2-3 hours of sleep! (I'm completely
obsessed, and have a really hard time stepping away from
the computer, I need to finish this site so I can sleep again!

Hello DRD - have you gotten any sleep?

I am sad to say that I can't answer your question. But I'm hoping you can help me. I just read about wrappers in the official help pages, but I don't feel like I understand them completely. It turns another web page into a module...how do they appear on the page? Can you (or someone) show me an example of a web page using a wrapper?

I'd love to know this info the little tutorial I'm writing (see link below). But I also have another more specific question. My boss wants me to install iBuilder on our Mambo site. http://www.verticalresponse.com/products/ibuilder5.html iBuilder is a commercial newsletter management system, and their website says "We provide you with the HTML code enabling you to host your form on your website." Can I use a wrapper for this or should I put this code in the index.php file in the template?

Also, I've looked through the forums for a comparison of the open-source newsletter components, but haven't found one. Is there one that will run multiple lists and report statistics on click-through and the like?

Thanks!
And good luck with your long wrappers,
Anna

Anna,

I did sleep! Including 1.5 hours with my alarm going off. OOPs!

Thanks for responding! Nice tutorial you've got going there, helped clear up a few things. There's definitely a need for more, shall we say non-Mambo-brained type explanations of things. It does take a certain cranial readjustment.

The way I've done wrappers is as a menu item. It'll show any web page in the same main area as your other pages.

In admin go to one of the menus, say other. Click new and then select wrapper.
There you'll title it, enter the link for the web page you want to show and assign the parent item. Ther'es also a parameters button where you can set the width and height of the wrapper window, you can set it to adjust to the height of the incoming page automatically, scroll bars or not, and some other usual settings.

So when this is set and saved, a new menu item shows up on your menu, you click it and the page that was linked shows up right there in the middle. MAGIC!!!

I'm sure there are tons of ways to use the wrappers, especially since you can adjust the size so precisely. This is just one way.

As far as the iBuilder html, I'm not really familiar with it, I'll take a look though. If they give you html code for what is displayed, then you could make a web page with that code and call the page through a wrapper; you could use it in a content item also.
Another nifty trick is to put html in section and category description fields.

Not sure on the tracking and such through the wrapper though.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Is this a problem only with previous mambo versions, or does this still persisr in the latest release?

Theres a component out called StaticX (it might be called Static XT now) that would take care of this problem for you... I've used it and it worked great. Should work for your scrolling problem.
