Default Typo

You may be wonderful designers but you'll get more credibility if you fix your typo on the home page.

Default More on the typo question

I mean my comments to be helpful and not critical.

There are a lot of people who don't understand the importance of correct English. It may be fine to use textural slang in email where the rules of grammar are glossed over.

When it comes to communicating with the general public, and especially when you want to sell something or gain credibility, you must demonstrate that you are competent. I was an appalling speller when I was a boy. In fact, I was beaten in school for not learning to spell. This was a long time ago and in the UK. It didn’t help me to improve either: quite the opposite.

So why is this important? Because the way you write shows that you care enough about your reader and shows that you know how to pay attention to details. You need to be alert to details as a programmer.

As designers you need to be masters of your craft. This needs attention and focus.

One typo on a resume gets your document thrown in the trash. There are many people who would find one typo in your text and assume (rightly or wrongly) that you don’t care enough to do a good job.

Proof reading will pay you dividends.

Hope this helps.

Thumbs up change the template!

Please change the template immediately, especially as a designer! A webdesign team who uses the free obi-one Carbon template? The template is great looking from obi, don’t use a well-known template like this one…sorry……please show everyone what you design.

As proudly admin of mamboshowcase.com I just do recognize way too many (free) mambo templates ;-)

In your portfolio, only use domains which are fully functionally and not godaddy.com temporary pages. The category portfolio is not necessary, just display the links if possible. You could also build an static content pages en fill this with some site screenshots (of you own designs) and some text with a link to the domain. Next, create a menu item just to that page will also do the job instead of a link category.

And do make a new welcome text, creation date of 12 june 2004, updated 25 of april! And still one domain in portfolio? Doesn’t look right to me. Or at least leave out the creation date of this item

Regards and good luck,
Ray

Yes we are using it as a temporary template. The thing about June 12th is wrong because we weren't even around then. I tried to remove the dates but it didn't work for some reason. Anyways we should have our new template up soon. Still working on a few things.

Default the banner module

Hey, this is just a small suggestion for whatever template you use. You can center the banner module by inserting <center> or <div align="center"> tags around the banner module code. That way there will be equal negative space on both sides of it.

I actually do this with the mainbody and top module lines too, because otherwise it's difficult to center an image you include in an article. Just a small suggestion that a lot of templates overlook.

Good luck with the site guys.
