Hello,
I spent the whole weekend to include phpList, the best Newsletter/Mailinglist Manager which is aviable, into Mambo!!!! Please, visit my site and subscribe into the Newsletter, so that I can test and finish it. http://www.kiel-mobil.de/component/o...ist/Itemid,92/ Pleas give some feedback about errors..... Mathias com_phplist : phplist features Posting to the mailinglist is via a webpage. It is therefore a one-way announcements system, directed from you to your audience. It is designed to be able to deal with a very large amount of email addresses. If a sending fails halfway, the next process for sending simply continues where it left off, without duplicating emails to users. Users can sign up to multiple lists. If a message is sent to multiple lists, they will only receive one copy of the email and not as many as the number of lists they are subscribed to. Templates. It is very easy to adapt the public pages of the system to fit into your website. You can upload a header and a footer of all pages to make the pages fit your requirements. Attributes. You can specify information you want to get from users when they sign up. When sending a message, you can use this information to select the users that need to receive the message. For example you can add geographical information. When people sign up, they can identify the geographical location they're in and when sending an email you can determine which locations need to receive the message. Multiple subscribe pages. You can design your own subscribe pages and you can have different pages allowing users to sign up to a selection of your lists and only enter a selection of your pre-defined attributes. Personalisation. You can use the attributes you define in the emails you send, to make every email personal to the user who receives them. PHPlist supports HTML emails. If a user indicates they want HTML email they can receive it that way. If unknown the system has a bias to send text emails to users. Multiple List managers. One Super user can assign lists to multiple list managers, who can control their own pool of users and lists. The Super user can "prepare" messages that can be chosen by list managers to send to any of the lists they control. Easy import and export. Use TAB delimited files to import your existing list of users or to export the users on the PHPlist system for use in your in-house database. Personal Details. Every email a user receives will contain a personalised URL to update the users' preferences. This way your users can update their own information and your database is always up-to-date. Unlike most other mailinglist managers users can change their email address when updating their personal details. This is a major benefit to both you and your users as many people often change their email address, and this feature makes sure that they don't disappear from your view. Attachments. You can add attachments to your message. They will be included in the HTML emails. The users who receive text will get a special URL mentioned in their email telling them where to download the attachment from your website. User management. You can use several in built tools to handle large databases of users. Users can be reminded to confirm their subscription and invalid emails will be found automatically, or fixed whenever needed. Bounce handling. Bounces can be processed and users will be automatically unsubscribed when too many emails to them bounced. This can be corrected by the administrator in case the unsubscription was incorrect. Automated PDF creation. To ensure users can read the message regardless of mail reader, the message can be automatically converted to PDF and attached to the email. RSS feeds. PHPlist can be set up to read a range of RSS sources and send the contents on a regular basis to users. The user can identify how often they want to receive the feeds. Phil, the subscripe page ist this moment included with the wrapper,
my first work was to make phpList to a Mambo commponent, so that everyone can istall it with the Mambo installer. That's work, an now comes the next steps. I think it's work for fine for people who will use it. Mathias |

Fantastic!!!
I looked at phpLIST and listmessenger... phpLIST while not as 'aggressive' as listmessenger is GREAT in it's own mature quirky way! [my limitied opinion of course]ONE QUESTION: can anyone confirm that the version [wrapped or otherwise] of phpLIST a la Mamabo can ONLY use lists of people subscribed? Like USERS of MOS CMS... I wanted to use phpLIST as a mailshot for a few hundred people NONE of whom are members of any mambo site... although it would be COOL if they could UNsubscribe/subscribe via the site.. I was just gonna LINK the URL for my seperate install of it obviously.. Maybe that the best plan for me for now... ANYWAYS, I think it's SO COOL Mathias on your site where you've got openchat and everything !! THANKS HEEPS! Best wishes to ALL NewsLetter Lovers and Developers!!! |

Forgive my ignorance though isn't there SOME benfit to the WRAPPER. I mean integration totally into mambo could get messy? for such a large-ish script. I found that phpSHOP for instance and all the brilliany work done to get it up with mambo had the problem of not being able to be published to the same page as Simpleboard or simple board died ... publish it to any other pages except "ALL and the forum and all was cool.
I'll have to study up on this.... ! -=-=-==-=-= cool Phil..thanks! Hey, how's listMessenger coming.... shame there's TWO great newsletters out there.. makes it all a bit puzzling!!! > ![]() -=-=-=-=-= oh, geeps! I thought you said "possible in MostList Messengers" !!! hehehe.... touche! can''t wait! |

twerb,
with phplist you can have a unlimeted number of mailinglist. People can subscribe and unsubscribe like the want, or you can add Members. I think the Listmanger can do the same, but I thin phpList is the better Programm. But it's up to you which programm you choose. I think the biggest differents are in the price. Mathias |

Thanks Mathias... um... yes I have to say phpLIST is great. i do like the fact that I can do whatever I like with the code, as it's full GPL... I believe.
READ: the code does whatever it likes with ME! ListMessenger seems to be making a LOT of people happy of course and is VERY agressively being promoted over at the ListMessenger forum, it seems to really look the part too, and has serious daily developement and busy forums.... I do think it's good for developers who require it to get a fair return on their tiime. I'm going a bit off topic. SO: phpLIST has been around a LONG time and has HAD a lot of DEV attention though right now the forums are pretty slow. I think ?? Good reason for people like me [hit and miss] to use YOUR version, or Phil's ListMessenger version [soon!] as without HOT forums days can really roll by with no progress my end. So anyways... on the phpLIST front... THANKS 4 the reply... I don't quite follow... WITH YOUR VERSION: I CAN import a list of people that are NOT members of any MOS site? AND then they can still go to a link to unsubscribe? I didn't see any benefit for me at first thought to an integrated listmessenger or [now] phpLIST as I have no USERS on the site [> ]so I have been "fumbling" around getting phpLIST to work for me standalone, then I was gonna just link it to a MOS site via a URL link... With support Centre [er] , simpleboard, phpLIST, Listmessenger, phpSHOP... the database could REALLY take a beating if anything conflicts.. [not as scary as it used to be now that I've discovered "DROP tables"!!! usually with phpMyAdmin, though direct database connection from home using access hosts and say, SQLyog is groovy too! ] Currently I'm thinking... OSCommerce standalone phpLIST standalone MOS Support Center [cause it's beautiful & hides my lack of content well! Tsk Tsk] Simpleboard Help Center Live Standalone [whoa!] [Help Centre Live Standalone> though when you GENERATE the code in HCLive you can paste it right into a USER created module and publish it right to any box in your template <"thanks PEEK for telling me to turn on HTML mode before pasting in the code!> Then you've basically got this AWESOME live chat thing and helpdesk. MANY USES!!! um, so for me at the present time I'm seeing the benefit of scripts being standalone ..... PLEASE enlighten me as I'm a year one beginner and MUST be taught the error of my ways!!!!! best wishes to ALL !!!!! DEV's Forever....um... please and thanks! twErP [mark] |

twerb,
You can import each e-mail-adress you have into phpList. on my site I have phpList one time as standalone an now one time as mos commponent. I make that for people who can't install scripts. So the have only a little bit of work to install it. Mathias |

If I understand it right, there is no integrated administration?
What I like about phplist is that it already includes a form manager that helps us collect more data about a registring user.

Good luck with this, I started to integrate phplist some time ago and gave up. It is a fabulous piece of software but integrating it properly is a nightmare.
