For those who haven't found the answer in the documentation (just go to the help index and start reading the What's New page), the Frontpage settings are available in the 'Parameters' tab when editting the 'Home' menu item.
Go: Menu -> Main Menu Edit the Home item Click on the "Parameters" tab. Viola! For some this seems like a backwards step. Well, I ask that you be patient with the format. As more and more components will take advantage of the new Parameters flexibility it will become more natural. The "Frontpage Settings" menu item was a special case because parameters, while documented, where not well understood and people kept asking "How do I get rid of the $%#^ Welcome to the Front Page".

Thanks for this information.
I very much like the idea of using parameters for the frontpage as with other page. However, I wonder if perhaps the parameters could be moved under the "frontpage" menu item under content? The issue I have is that it isto be counter intuitive to have to go to two different places to fix settings for the front page. Also, I could see someone deciding to just get rid of the main menu, and then they'll have to run around trying to fix things... Also, and this may have changed in RC3 (or I may so daft as to not have found it), there doesn't appear to be anywhere to fix the "Welcome" and the date that gets on the front page apparently by default. Just my 2 cents ![]() |

The reasoning why the parameters are in the menu are discussed here:

In RC3 you have to delete the text. Which date are you referring to??

Again, in RC2, the date is displayed under the "welcome", no matter what settings I was using. Will check again with RC3. Thanks |

I didn't want a Home menu and have most of the site complete already.
There's no "home" menu type. How do I modify the content shown on the frontpage now?! It doesn't even allow me to select static content, only news items which I wouldn't want there anyway! What's worse, if I unpublish a news item it's still displayed by frontpage component. If I *trash* it -- I can still see it. If I *delete from trash* it is *STILL* there!!! |

Go to your main menu and edit the first item listed. Click on "Parameters" and there you go.

Can you replicate the error on the demoserver? I am unable to replicate your error on the latest CVS.

I am suprised it's hard coded somewhere, as IMO it should be a link type that's available only once in a menu. I'm using 4.5.1 RC4. I'm still seeing the news item that should've been deleted. |

actually I posted a bug regarding this that was closed but the way it works makes absolute sense:
parameters display for whatever the component is, so in this case you just make a new link to con_frontpage. for this new link to be displayed as the actual "front page" all you have to do is move the link to the first order position. |
