Smile Dutch Government chooses for Mambo

My friends, Mambo lovers. With a few friends we try to motivated the Dutch Government to work with Mambo. The Dutch Government is now working with expensive old fashnioned CMS like Smartsite, Open Market, Interwooven and that kind of stuff. The Dutch politic is more and more enthousiastic over OSOSS (Open Source Open Standards Software, www.ososs.nl). We are positioning Mambo as a CMS and as a OO-Software-envorionment to make structured web applications. (we make our own mambo-modules. We have only one councurrent (www.mmbase.org). MMbase has succes because the maintainers of that community and the roots of the software are in Holland.

We promoted Mambo because we think it is the best possible solution. We have head our first succes:

The city Waalwijk has choosen Mambo for 2 webapllications:

1) www.onswaalwijk.nl , it's a knew expiriment of Waalwijk where citizins can talk, discusse with Waalwijk

2) www.jongereninbeeld.nl/waalwijk, it's a knew webapplication for Police, The Goverment and a lot more organisations who's work is the problems made by young people (alle the software are available for registrated users so you do,nt see a lot on the site)

The last project has to be ready at 18 juli 2004. I have a lot of questions, and i'm searching for help:

1) our software (a lot of mambo components) is available under a GPL licence wich is agreed by the govenrment (ow Waalwijk). We made the software running who want to help us to publisch the code in the mamboserve. Make XML files for automatic install and make translations in other languages (now erverything is in Dutch)

2) we earned our money on implementation and hosting, but i think that in principe it will be good if we give a donations to alle the software we uses. On the website (www.jongerinbeeld.nl/waalwijk) we make a colofon where everone can read wich software we uses (mambo, docman. simpleboard, etc.etc.). I woul be very satisfied if the maintainers of mambo (docman, etc.) will call or mail me to talk about this subject.

3) now i start with a big marketing campaign to motived the rest of the government in Holland to start with the Mambo movement. If my mission is succesfull i need more power. If you are a mambo component (modules) builder, mail your CV and price pro hour to me.

4) Their is a big European job to do in Hollang (look at TED.eu). For 28 juli 2004 i have to make a big proposel (is a complete document softwae system with scanning of all the post). I want to offer it based on Mambo with a lot of new mambo modules. Mail me is you are available. Mail me i joy want to help me with the proposel.

Dutch Open Project is now 15 people big. All working with Mambo (php, mysql). We are a pure compony only working with GPL licences. I.m the general manager of this anarchistic bunch of mad friends.

Sorry for my bad english,

Thumbs up

That's great. That is a real inroad. Nice to see governments embracing open source.

It won't happen in Canada. Our government is too busy ripping us off.

Is the template you have build up for grabs?

In other words - can other mambo users get access to it?

The dutch city Heeze-Leende has also chosen Mambo as their CMS to handle a website with publications about major reconstructions in the center of the city.

A pre-production template with some fake content can be seen at
http://www.kreijveld.nl/demo

With the new modulebot some cool features can be achieved. Try hitting the button "Bezoeker login" and see the login module being published in the component section of the site.

On one remark of Hooijer in this post I have to make a comment.

We took an extensive look at Smartsite and we cannot qualify this CMS as old fashioned. It has some features like multi-channel publishing, very extensive user rights system, extensive archiving of pages and so on. These are features that Mambo is still missing. But, it is a very expensive commercial product and Mambo has the potential to grow further to become a real killer application!

Default Excellent

Congratulations on getting mambo into government!

We are pushing Mambo hard with public organisations and several large corporations. We are developing a Mambo solution just now for a company who employ 4000 people globally, the kind of company who could go down the 'expensive portal' route ;-)

Sadly we are not charging expensive portal fees...... ;-)
