new dark blue design with flash header
I visited London in October ofr a few days, where i snapped alot of photos. I used one of them to inspire me to make this flash header. This is the Millenium bridge over the River Thames in London. Turned out pretty nice. www.mambosolutions.com

That is sweet man
![]() I love the header, nice subdued animation that doesn't distract from the page content. The flash login boxes are kinda nifty as well ![]() Maybe you could put together a Mambo and Flash tute sometime? hehe Also, even tho the last one was nice, I prefer this to the stylish blog retro wallpaper look ![]() Cheers, Damian |

John, you know my usual position on flash... I think it's overused and misused.
That said, I think in this case, it is really nicely done. It works well. Bravo! If I could give one criticism, it's that the header doesn't show for a while, which is a little unsettling as a visitor to the site. Even with the progress bar, I wanted and expected to see something there. Just a thought ![]() |

John, was looking for the download in the "Template Club" section, nada, went to homepage and found this:
"You have voted and mambosolutions has responed! I am proud to announce the availability of ms_darkblue_blog - my first commercial template in the new Mambosolutions Template Shop!" What have (we) voted? And does this mean the template is not available for members? Also, I think it'd be easier to follow if the templates were named with the release month's name; hard to keep track as to what was out when etc (or just prefix Number(month/year) on each..) cheers joe

Joe-
this means A) no its not available to members B) I ran a poll and most people voted in favor of me setting up a template shop where they can purchase individual template designs in addition to the montlhy club - reasons for this are A) i have already given 2 nice templates to the club members for November and B) Christmas is coming and my kids are already coming to me with the catalogs full of barbie's and Baby dolls and I want this and that etc ... ![]() my naming conventions I agree can be confusing *smile* if you look back through the months..some have ex. ms_aug_2004, ...so much for consistency..I admit i should pick out a naming style and stick to it...could that be my New Year's resolution? :=) Quote:

JOe
![]() excellent suggestion there...my youngest is still a fan, i think she would love Woody, maybe i'll get Buzz for me... If they had a Stinky Pete I would definatley geti that for my 6 year old, and if they had Annie I would get that instead of Woody ![]() Its shaping up to be a 'Bob the Builder' versus 'barbie' kinda of Holiday season from the looks of the circled catalog items so far that have been submitted by the my kids.... No girl dolls from Toy Story unfortunately, mine wanted one too...
You need to add a "restrict" to the submission form to disallow "barbie", lol

You seem to be missing a <head> tag, not to mention your blagging links violate all decent programming specifications - 2297 errors found over 10 pages.
And the people at Mamboawards accepted your nomination to "site of the month" in spite of this? |

Maybe you should write a Mambo template tutorial, Lawrence.
Constructive criticism is one thing, being an @ss is another. Cheers, Damian |

Well, Mamboawards does dish out 40% of their score supposedly for design, and if the design don't work according to all known programming standards, what's the use?
The tutorial is coming. I'm just experimenting and learning the tutorial system atm, so an absolute noobie to Mambo can learn what makes good design as well as good code (including crash coursing in CSS-based design as well). |

I respect that fact that this is a public forum, and anyone can feel free to express themselves.
I must admit, this is one of my favorite designs that I have done in a while...I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, and I would really like to thank mamboawards for giving me the honor of Best Design Best Creativity Best Work in the Mambo Community As always, thanks for your feedback Absalom, have a nice day. ![]() I wonder do they give out awards for being an @ss? . I'm just shocked they gave this "award" to you without even testing the integrity of your code.. It seems like a significant oversight on their part. Perhaps it would be best to consider them @ss for the day?
Layout wise, it looks cool (well, for a blog, anyway), but the underlying code needs significant work. |

They are giving the award based on design. You might do yourself a favor and get your head out of the code for a while and also learn to design a bit better instead of trying to be an internet policeman. From what i have seen, the only nice designs i have seen released by you are all conversions of other peoples designs. Having a site that validates XHTML standard and CSS might be attractive to some, but for many people, a pretty face will win out over standards geekdom with a so-so look everyday.
There, we have both spewed our spewage, let us stop here.

Ok, its time to air your laundry. :-P
Every time I've approached someone regarding Creative Commons licencing they have been in violation of some manner of the licence, either through removal of the licence itself or through copyright. Now do you have a problem with that ? (Y/N) Since you have such a low respect for my talents within this community, I guess the last statements you made regarding the integrity of my skills and talents no longer count: Quote:
What gives? |
