Hey everyone, I'm a hobby!

Now Brian, it's not as fun when you delete your messages. Makes people think you are trying to hide something... Not that I blame you.

Example: I put out on the "wires" that you blow goats (we will use Gayle's example). That is my opinion. I have now put myself in an actionable position for a libel suit, as this may or may not be true. But good to know that's not how you think, will have to keep that in mind...

Facts cannot be tortious but you are mighty short on them and long on ********. Opinion can be tortious (e.g. In my opinion Brian C is probably the product of inbreeding).

And before you jump up and down it's an example of a hypothetical opinion, not a statement of a real one.

Those of you who make a living with Mambo, send your prospects a link to this thread. Now imagine this thread times 500 all over the world.

Okay? Maybe perhaps that's incentive to deal with this matter reasonably.

Or not. I don't care.

Try imagining tech editors the world over shaking their heads in bemused bisbelief as they hit delete.

And anyone with a client that is considering linux, make a link to Groklaw. Perhaps they'll reconsider.

You should care, really. This is a large gamble you're taking. Guess if it wasn't working for you the first time, damn the torpedos!

No Gayle. They all know that there are hundreds of SCO cases out there. This is a great example. That is why it is a lightning rod issue in business.

I have deliberately not participated in this thread as I have had my own tirade of abuse, demands and threats directly from Brian Connolly (http://www.literatigroup.com and http://furthermore.com). I have been carefully monitoring the opinions and questions raised here as have Miro, our supporter and the owner of the Mambo copyright.

The issue regarding Connolly's demands and claims are currently under investigation by Miro. Since receiving threats and demands by Connolly, Miro have turned the matter over to their legal counsel and will release a statement in due course.

In the interim I would like to advise that at this point this issue is entirely based on hearsay and opinion. There are no supporting contracts, documentation or other correspondence that have been put forward.

Further we believe it is a dispute between Connolly and the developer and we believe that Connolly should not have involved the community of users. Lashing out at the community, spreading fear and unrest is a poor and cowardly response if in fact there is a legitimate argument.

We will keep you posted regarding a statement from Miro as soon as it comes to hand.

roadies,

SCO has had a chilling effect on OS and linux.

That's a fact.

12 months ago maybe, now SCO are a joke and even the business press has caught on. Anythign that smells even remotely like SCO (especially on such a small scale) isn't even worth the effort.

They might use words like "barratry", "threat", and other lovely descriptions though, that makes a much more intersting story. People are sick of the behavious of business, they are more interested in hearing about how business sucks (i.e. confirming their own feelings) which is what the press would give them.

I still maintain it's small potatoes though and not even worth their effort.

I would guess 70+% of my customers come directly from this board, you can show them anything you would like. The only thing they would learn from this thread is that you have an over-inflated ego, and no knowledge of what you are talking about. If you did, you would have cared to explain how you thought you could claim the copyright of universally used, GPL code...

Seriously, now IBM are killing SCO the business community has got confirmation that Linux is cool to use, even people who would never have looked at it a year ago are startign to evaluate it as an option.

Here... This is how it turns out.

Miro will reattribute the copyright. We will make nice.

My off-the-cuff prediction. Come Wednesdy (sic), the only news from the Literati Group will be the launch of Furthermore.com

And the legal threats will only be a spring board. As an unethical a strategy as it sounds, it will probably get you *some* traffic.

Brian, I am ashamed to be part of the same "business community" as you.

I will bow out (this time for good) of the thread now and let Miro et al handle it appropriately.

Just so you are aware, no one on this board or that is a part of this community will ever "make nice" with you.

Well, it's according to what you define as "nice." I really did not have plans to attend this year's Christmas party, if that's what you're talking about.
