I had to update my Dreamweaver Extensions Manager from 1.5, which came with the default installation of MX, to 1.6. Then everything worked fine. You can find the download here: http://www.macromedia.com/exchange/em_download/

Hello All,
It looks like the site where the extension could be donwloaded vanished. Anyone know of an alternate place to get the extension?
Thanks,

is there differance????
yes there is a difference!
If you dont believe me then downlaod and install the extension from that link and make a template with it ! It wont work, the Miro commercial dreamweaver extension outputs different code, not compatible...why do you think I spent 8 hours to make a MOS version of the extension?
You posted a link to Miro site duh! Now, comon, spignatro, you with a post count higher than my monthly salary  should know that MIRO's commercial version of Mambo CMS is absolutley different and not compatible with Mambo Open Source!

thats why I laughed John
ummm
but I had to install it anyway..just to take a sneaky peak
I think we all are a might further along on here...what with all the excellent suggestions from yourself and others on template design and modification ;-)
hehe!

o...i dont use dreamweaver extension so i wouldnt know the differance......ill check them out later....i just figured other wise dreamweaver extension and knew miro had one....that is what came to my mind in the first place....
what program do you use to make the extensions?
mamboSkins
November 21st, 2003, 17:01
Dreamweaver extension is a collection of html files (one for each of the menu insert items, graphics and an XML config that tells the isntaller where to copy everything, you package it up with the Extension manager.
There are turtorials on the web and a lot of info in the Dreamweaver documentation.
cheers :)

this is great, it really speed things up for dreamweaver users...
unfortunatly i use frontpage and then php expert editor to clean up the code...
its just easier for me.... lol :)

neo......frontpage is a pain in the arse.....
consider using notepad.....lol
Websmurf
November 22nd, 2003, 08:47
well... notepad isn't the most perfect tool around ;)
doesn't have sintax highlighting...
mamboSkins
November 22nd, 2003, 09:11
the best ;) editor around for php IMHO is phpEd, I have the old free version it kicks serious arse, the newer version costs more than Dreamweaver. phpEd has syntax highlighting, and it lets you test locally if you have php installed.
Frontpage...shite, sorry but it just outputs **** code, Word is the worst though
:)
brynieman
November 22nd, 2003, 09:38
totally agree..phpEd kicks!!
but I still use Dreamweaver MX..kinda got used to it now
Frontpage..twice as much code for ya money..

hey notepad is what i started out using to code php....beleive me...when all else fails...it is there to help....
as for Dreamweaver...i love it...im thinking about getting 2004
as for Frontpage.....you get more BANG for your BUCK....so continue on crashing with Frontpage and its bulk code....no one will mind....lol

i allways use Zend Studio for editing, a really advanced program, and not event that expensive...

:!: UPDATE: :!:
I just updated my DW extension.
changelog:
-removed the depracted 'insert newsflash'
-fixed 'insert sitename'
-added 'insert top'
-added 'insert bottom'
-added ' insert inset'
version 1.0.5 is available in the filebase at www.mambosolutions.com
 Let's hope that no more changes in the way templates are built, already the fact that insert newsflash has been changed will cause errors in all existing 4.5 templates.
Cheers,
john :)

hey guys, sorry for the delay in responding... lol
i have always used frontpage and i'm tryin to convert to dreamweaver... its a little new, but i'm getting the hang of it...
i have dw mx 2004 as well as fireworks mx 2004 (for my visuals)
it was a little pricey but i think it is well worth it...
fireworks can do anything photoshop can with a more intuitive interface (IMHO)
and you all are right.. neo never took the easy way.... hehe

November 24th, 2003, 13:03
why would neo take easy way out....bah ...he rocks....

not even close. I own both fireworks and photoshop, have benn using both for years, fireworks ineed is a great app, but it still cant touch Photoshop. Anyways thats way off topic, maybe we need to start a new thread :)
