For the last coupple of days I been having permission problems with new installs and upgrades of 4.5.2
Today I noticed that the chmod setting is not written to configuration.php, when you just accept the standard settings at install page 3.
(fantastico installation do not change this ! )
It meant that it was not possible to edit/delete (through ftp) modules/files uploaded by mambo.
Manuel changing these settings in configuration.php brings back the full control of your new 4.5.2 setup :)
More of this problem here:

Done some different installs and apparently I was wrong with saying that the chmod was not written to configuration.php.
Seems like the fantastico install/upgrade do set the preconfigured flags.
But the new chmod possibility take away alot of the Simplicity that is so important with Mambo.
One canīt expect that people have root access to their web acount, and the chmod "thing" mess up with ftp rights and server rights.
This issue brings unnessesary worries and frustration to many mambers, cause they lost the possibility to change folder/file permissions by ftp on files (component/modules) created within Mambo.
We need to have Simplicity (ftp rights) back :banghead: , cause in the long run we become thick-headed crashing the Mambo wall of "security"...

The only diffrence is that chmod was hardcoded to 777 in 4.5.1, and is configurable now in 4.5.2.
You obviously never cared about file ownership and access flags before otherwise you would have checked this yourself.
Or did you had the safemode patch installed in 4.5.1? Then you need to wait until it is available for 4.5.2.

:) just saying that this gives unwanted problems for quite a few new and old mambers when upgrading to 4.5.2 (or doing a new install)
The standard setting in the installation proces, is the one giving problems afterwards. You could choose to 0777 the whole lot, to have your rights back.
And this is for safe mode=off too.

The ftp user right/permission problem can be solved by installing the great component mamboXplorer : http://mamboforge.net/projects/mamboxplorer/
This let you handle upload/deleting of files from within Mambo, and then everything works fine :) (damn Iīm slow  )
Now one can concentrate on discovering all the good stuff that comes along with the 4.5.2.1 Mambo version. Great features/helpsite/tutorials.....
